The UK Prime Minister to Push Allies on Extended-Range Weaponry for Ukrainian Forces at London Summit

Sir Keir Starmer plans to press allies to provide Ukraine with further extended-range weaponry to hit Moscow's positions during a meeting in the UK capital on this Friday.

The prime minister will host Ukraine's leader Zelensky alongside what's known as "coalition of the willing", comprising over twenty of Ukraine's allies who have committed to provide Ukraine protection commitments once hostilities pause is negotiated.

Ukraine's president has been appealing for several weeks for more advanced missile technology from Western nations, a step that Russia has warned would intensify the conflict.

President Zelensky is travelling from the EU capital, where he held talks with EU leaders on the previous day pursuing economic assistance.

"The sole individual involved in current hostilities who declines to stop the war is President Putin," Starmer stated.

Sir Keir furthermore reveal that 100 further anti-aircraft missiles will be delivered to Kyiv earlier than planned, as outlined in a £1.6bn deal struck between Britain and Ukraine in last spring.

Diplomatic Momentum

The Ukrainian president comes off the back of two diplomatic wins this week: Donald Trump's decision to finally apply further sanctions against the Russian government, and European countries deciding to fund a Ukrainian budget hole.

Sir Keir will encourage participants to increase the delivery of extended-range systems following a successful operation on an industrial facility in Bryansk, the Russian Federation, using Britain-delivered missile systems.

Two children were part of at least seven lost in numerous Russian strikes on Ukraine, which struck a daycare center in the second biggest city Kharkiv.

Financial Discussions

The Prime Minister will consult partner nations on how to remove Russia's petroleum resources from international trade.

They will furthermore discuss using blocked Russian resources to supply Kyiv with financial loans, though the plan faced divided opinions and jurisdictional challenges at the EU conference on Thursday.

The EU opted against agreeing an initiative to utilize approximately €140 billion in frozen Russian assets to economically support Kyiv's finances.

However, the delegates agreed to contribute to Ukraine's "budgetary necessities" for the upcoming biennium.

United States also announced measures on Wednesday against Moscow's two largest oil companies, Rosneft and Lukoil Corporation, as part of efforts to apply financial pressure on Moscow to begin hostility discussions.

Moscow launched its comprehensive attack of the country in winter 2022. The invading forces currently holds about one-fifth of Ukrainian territory, including the Crimean peninsula Moscow annexed in several years ago.
