Much like bad weather hit the northwest the prior day, Manchester City blew Manchester United away at the Etihad. It was a emphatic 3-0 victory for their manager's side thanks to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Hemp. It was a display that truly announced their title credentials as they reinforced their place at the WSL pinnacle.

The hosts, meanwhile, could have extended their cushion when a superb Miedema through ball sent Shaw away only for her to miss the chance but it did not affect the result to the hosts. Having failed to beat any team who ended above them last season, City's side now have wins against the Gunners and Manchester United to place them in a favorable standing after the opening fixtures.
